The notification read that districts that have a higher COVID-19 positivity ratio, such as more than 20 cases in the last 24 hours, will be subject to this rule.
The districts with such positivity rates are reported to be Lahore, Gujrat, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad.
On Monday, the Senate approved the Compulsory Teaching of the Arabic Language Bill 2020, making the teaching of Arabic mandatory in primary and secondary schools in Islamabad.
It said that rules have been developed in line with the federal education ministry’s notification issued on January 5.
Students from all the educational institutes will attend classes on alternative days. The student ratio must remain at a 50% on each day, read the notification.
"While I desperately want education to continue the final decision will be on health grounds. Students well being will always be a priority," Shafqat Mahmood said.
The government had decided reopening of schools from class 9th to 12 on January 18.
The second shift would be started on need basis in all districts of KP where priorities would be given to teachers of the same school to teach students.
The educational institutes were closed from November 26, 2020 to January 10, 2021 by the federal government amid COVID-19 resurge.
The reopening of educational institutes will now be reviewed in the upcoming meeting of education ministers, chaired by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, on January 4.
The minister said that he very much would like to reopen all educational institutions as he is concerned about the learning losses especially at the primary level.
Educational institutions were closed on November 26 across the country.
The opening of hotels' restaurants can be seen as an attempt to help the country's ski resorts, hard hit by the pandemic, mitigate at least partially their losses.
“Given the current high rate of corona infections and sadly deaths, it was the right decision to close educational institutions,” says the Minister.
