Around 45 navies, including those of the United States, Britain and China, took part in the Arabian Sea exercise with ships and observers.
The purpose of this exercise to bring regional and extra-regional navies on one platform and conduct exercises to enhance intra-operability in addition to counter terrorist threat and the crime which are happening in maritime domain.
During the main ceremony flags of all 45 participating countries were hoisted in the air with Pakistan's flag in the middle.
The Naval Chief welcomed the participating countries and said participation from so many countries really describes the motto of the exercise which is ‘Together for Peace’.
The multinational maritime exercise Aman-2021 will be held in Karachi and in Pakistan waters from February 11 to February 16.
US, Russia, UK and other countries from Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, East Africa, South Asia and South East Asia have confirmed their participation.
Rear Admiral Abid Hameed would now be incharge of Logistic support to all Pakistan Navy Units, Ships, Establishments and repair & maintenance facilities.
His major staff appointments include Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Projects), Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Works) and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Maintenance) at Naval Headquarters Islamabad. The admiral has been awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his services to Pakistan Navy.
Over 40 countries along with their assets will participate in the Multinational Maritime Exercise “Aman” being held under the objective of ‘Together for Peace’.
“Aman” naval drill will play a pivotal role in strengthening maritime cooperation, promoting secured maritime environment and for regional and global maritime peace and stability.
