The President on Friday rejected FBR's representation against the order of Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) in a case of bogus tax refunds worth over 14 million rupees made to a fake Registered Person.
General Ahmed Al-Hnaity has been conferred the award in recognition of his efforts to further strengthen the defense relations between Pakistan and Jordan.
Al-Hnaity also called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi
Supreme Court has also asked any other stakeholder who wanted to become part of the proceedings to submit their written recommendations within two weeks.
The reference was sent by President Arif Alvi in which he sought out court’s opinion under article 188 of the constitution.
In its written order, the apex court has issued notices to advocate generals, chairman Senate, speakers of the national and provincial assemblies and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The government has also sought out guidance of the court if the issue can be decided without amending the constitution and introducing amendment in section 122 (vi) of the Election Act 2017.
The reference will be filed under Article 186 of the Constitution.
The President said despite the challenge of the Coronavirus pandemic, Pakistan's economy strengthened and its online businesses grew due to the implementation of far-reaching economic reforms.
The country had recorded 6,825 as the highest COVID-19 cases on June 14 which were dropped to 185 on August 31. Now again, the figure has crossed 700 mark, said Alvi.
