imageHAFIZABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stressed the need for unity to mitigate sufferings of the flood-hit people.

Addressing flood-hit people in Vanike Tarar and Behak Ahmad Yar, he declared the Punjab Government would not rest till rehabilitation of the last flood survivor.

He assured that compensation for the loss of houses and crops would be made good at the earliest and special Eid package would be provided to them shortly.

He said the Punjab government was using all its resources to provide relief to them and to ensure provision of shelters. He expressed his grief and sorrow over the devastation caused by the flash flood.

He assured the flood-stricken people of Behak Ahmad Yar that the Punjab Government would spare no pain in redressing their difficulties and hardships at the shortest time possible.

He also visited relief camp Vanike Tarar and expressed his satisfaction over arrangements made by the district administration.

In the presence of State Minister for Health, Regulation and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar, ex-federal parliamentary secretary for agriculture Mian Afzal Hussain Tarar and MPAs Asadullah Arain, Malik Fayyaz Ahmad, MNA Mian Shahid Hussain Bhatti, Commissioner Gujranwala Shumail Ahmad Khawaja, DPO Muhammad Zubair Dreshak, DCO Muhammad Usman while giving detailed told that according to preliminary estimates, 155 villages consist of 200,000 population and crops in 170,000 acres had been badly affected.

He also told the CM that Pakistan Army, Rescue-1122 and district administration had evacuated over 15,000 marooned people through helicopters and boats and shifted them to the safer places.
