The loss was largely due to a writedown of 6.5 billion Norwegian kroner on its assets in Myanmar, where Telenor has had a commercial presence since 2014 and employs a workforce of around 750.
And last year Telenor said it was combining its Asian operations into a single entity under new leadership to be better placed to pursue deals in the region.
"It is still possible to leave Myanmar but this may change at short notice," the Norwegian foreign ministry said in a statement, while adding that the policy change had been made in coordination with other Nordic countries.
There are two Norwegians in Myanmar for Telenor, who are there without families. They both hold key positions in securing Telenor Myanmar's operations.
Meanwhile, CEO USF, Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary said: “This project will benefit an unserved population of 0.7 Million in 648 unserved mauzas, thereby covering an unserved area of 18,212 sq. km. of Chitral, Upper Dir and Lower Dir districts.”
Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for October-December rose 0.9% year-on-year to 13.5 billion Norwegian crowns.
