Sony has finally unveiled two new smartphones: Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III.
Sony Xperia 1 III is the more premium offering with its slightly taller and heavier design, whereas Xperia 5 III provides the same experience in a more compact design.
“The wind down of the mobile phone business is expected to be completed by July 31 although inventory of some existing models may still be available after that,” the company said.
That compares with 20pc market share in the same quarter a year ago and 16pc market share in the previous quarter when arch-rival Apple Inc released the iPhone 12.
In practice, the reform could look like the reverse of parental controls on existing devices sold by tech companies such as Apple and Google, in which the filters are by default turned off.
Oppo surpasses Huawei to become the biggest smartphone manufacturer in China.
Oppo currently leads the local Chinese smartphone market with a 21 percent market share in January 2021.
Huawei, which has been pushed to the third place after the US ban, is now tied with Apple and Xiaomi, with a 16 percent market share in the Chinese smartphone market.
