imageLAHORE: A three-member bench of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday summoned Attorney General of Pakistan and Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) for January 11 on petitions against MQM Chief Altaf Hussain.

The bench headed by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi passed these orders while hearing three identical petitions filed by Malik Maqsood Ahmad Awan, Aftab Ahmad virk and Abdullah Malik for proceedings against Altaf Hussain under Article 6 of the Constitution due to his anti-Pakistan and anti-armed forces speeches.

During the hearing, Altaf Hussain's counsel Asma Jehangir pleaded the court to lift the ban on broadcast and publication of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain's activities.

However, the petitioners's counsels Ahmad Awais and Iftikhar Ahmad requested the court to allow some time for preparation.

At this, the court adjourning the hearing till January 11 summoned the Attorney General and Chairman PEMRA.
