imageKARACHI: Overseas workers' remittances rose by 14.6 percent at dollars 10.358 billion in the first seven months of fiscal year 2014-15 (July to January) compared to $ 9.03804 billion received during the same period of FY14.

SBP statement here on Tuesday said that during January 2015, the inflow of workers' remittances amounted to $ 1.377014 billion, which is 13 percent lower than December 2014 and 10% higher than January 2014.

The country-wise details for the month of January 2015 show that inflows from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, United Kingdom, GCC countries (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman) and European Union countries amounted to $ 452.81 million, $ 246.79 million, $ 186.15 million, $ 169.44 million, $ 160.44 million and $ 65.45 million respectively compared to the inflow of $ 393.27 million, $ 214.21 million, $ 193.09 million, $ 169.67 million, $ 151.09 million and $ 34.65 million respectively in January 2014.

Remittances received from Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries during January 2015 amounted to $96.06 million together as against $ 90 million received in January 2014.
