imageLAHORE: Special teams of the district administration continued a drive against hoarding and overcharging in the city and challaned 78 shopkeepers besides imposing a fine worth Rs 143,200 on violators of the price Act.

Special price control magistrates also got arrested 36 shopkeepers out of which 14 were sent to prison for three days after summary trial on the spot.

As many as 22 cases were lodged in various police stations. Special teams Friday conducted raids on 754 shops in various areas of the provincial capital and inspected prices of commodities at local markets.

DCO Capt (R) Muhammad Usman issued directions to the price control officials to continue crackdown against the hoarders and profiteers.
