KYIV: Ukraine has exported 10.48 million tonnes of grain so far in the July 2020-June 2021 season, compared with 12.19 million tonnes at the same point of the previous season, the economy ministry said on Monday.

The volume is down because of a decline in corn sales to 613,000 tonnes, against about 1.93 million tonnes at the same point of last season.

Wheat sales stood at 7.18 million tonnes compared with 7.53 million tonnes a year earlier.

Exports also included 2.65 million tonnes of barley.

Ukraine is the world's fourth-largest wheat exporter, with 56.5 million tonnes of grain sold in the 2019/20 season.

The government has said that exports could decline to 47.4 million tonnes in 2020/21.

The economy ministry also expects the 2020 grain crop to fall to about 68 million tonnes from 2019's record 75.1 million tonnes because of poor weather.
