Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has appealed to the nation to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty for its misdeeds in the present natural calamities of floods and deadly virus. He urged the masses to abandon the attitude of tyranny, oppression and hypocrisy and step forward for the help of their fellow citizens in distress to cool down the divine wrath.
Commenting on the rulers' appeal to the masses for seeking penitence from Almighty Allah in the present calamity, the JI chief said that those involved in loot and plunder of the national wealth should also fulfil the conditions for penitence by returning the ill-gotten wealth to the people, vow to shun evil practices in future and offer compensation for their excesses to the others.
He said it was an irony that while millions of people were facing devastation of floods, the President and the prime minister were busy in foreign tours. Besides, he said, there was common complaint that the relief goods received from abroad fort the calamity stricken were misappropriated by the high and mighty and the deserving masses got nothing.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that according to the 'Ahadith' of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), natural calamities like floods, epidemics were divine warning to human beings to give up sinning and become good guys. Therefore, he said, our people would be wise to heed to these warnings and mend their ways to become good Muslims.
