Jammat-e-Islami (JI) Punjab Naib Amir Rao Zafar Iqbal has condemned publication of blasphemous caricatures by a Norwegian newspaper. He also condemned the ban imposed by the Swiss government on the construction of minarets of mosques. Addressing a meeting held here on Monday, he said that the Swedish and the Norwegian governments had taken these measures to express their animosity against Islam and the Muslim world.
Iqbal said that western media has been hurting Muslims by publishing and broadcasting material against Islam norms and values, which is regrettable. Criticising the Pakistani rulers and Foreign Office (FO) officials, he said that they had kept criminal mum over the issue. He demanded of them to register strong protest with Europe Union (EU), Norwegian and Swiss governments, as it is the matter of Muslims' faith.
