imageISLAMABAD: Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, will pay an official visit to Malta to participate in the 24th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) being held from November 27 to 29.

The CHOGM is held after every two years and the theme for this year's meeting is Adding Global Value.

According to Foreign Office, the summit is viewed particularly important as the programme includes two retreat sessions that will discuss violent extremism and radicalism, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and migration.

A special session will be dedicated to climate change, which will issue the leaders' statement on Climate Action. The leaders will also elect the new Secretary General of CHOGM for the next four year term.

The Prime Minister will attend a banquet hosted by the British Queen and another banquet by the Prime Minister of Malta.

Besides attending the two-day Commonwealth meeting, the Prime Minister will meet with several world leaders, on the sidelines of the summit to discuss bilateral and global issues with them.

It may be recalled that Pakistan is one of the eight founding members of the Commonwealth and is enhancing its relations with the organization.
