imagePINDI BHATTIAN: Minister of State for National Health Services Regulations and Co-ordination Saira Afzal Tarrar on Sunday said that federal and provisional governments would ensure timely assistance to the flood affected people in this hour of need.

The government would continue making every possible effort to provide relief to the flood affected people, she stated while distributing cheques of Rs 1.6 million the flood victims here, accroding to a press release.

She said helping flood affected people was the foremost duty of government and "we will do everything possible for their rehabilitation."

She said due to heavy rains various roads and routes in rural areas had been blocked which were impeding relief and rescue operations.

Saira said tents were being provided to the flood affected people of Hafizabad and Pindi Bhattian. They were also being given commodities, edibles, medicines and treatment.

She said crops of rice, cotton and sugar cane had been ruined by floods in large areas. The government, she pledged, would leave no stone unturned in helping farmers.
