ISLAMABAD: As winter season has started gripping the country, a great surge is being witnessed in the sale of fish in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
A number of vendors had set their outlets in every nook and corner of the twin cities and offering fried fishes to cash the winter season.
The fish stalls were crowded with the men, women and children who come to these outlets to hit the cold with the dish of fish.
The fish supply comes from water reservoirs at Mangla, Tarbela and Simli while the sea catch from Karachi include trout, rahu, mahshair, barb, silver, mushka, salmon, thailla and morakhi.
Different types of fried fish are being sold from Rs.500 per kilograms to Rs.1000 per kilograms at different markets.
One of the fish traders, who has established his stall at Abpara Market, said that they got the supply from Karachi. "Most of the people in Islamabad prefer to eat fish without fishbone, which can easily be found in the sea," said Jamal Khan a fish seller.
He said the fish business, although on the surge in the ongoing season, was still not profitable when compared with the trend found three years ago.
A fried fish seller Arif Khan said: "I have been doing this business for the past 23 years at Commercial Market and Saddar Babu Bazaar.
He said that the demand of fish increases in winter and it was good opportunity for him to earn a lot in chilly weather.
