Pakistan is 6th most populous country of the world, but unfortunately 25% of our population is still deprived of basic facility of electricity. Since we have increasingly consumerist society, the solar panel manufacturing should start in Pakistan to provide electricity to the remotest areas. Solar Energy will also reduce imminent threat of Global Warming. President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi gave these remarks while inaugurating the solar power project in Karachi today.
The solar power project "Roshni Se Zindagi", which has already been kick started by Hilton Pharmaceuticals under initiative of corporate social responsibility in two rural areas of Sindh (Baba Bhit Island and Gharo), will be providing solar generated electricity to around 10000 people throughout Pakistan in coming three years.
While appreciating efforts of Hilton Pharmaceuticals, Dr Arif Alvi said that Pakistan has gone far ahead than other neighboring countries in producing development projects of philanthropists and charities under corporate social responsibility. "Karachi City has never faced any financial issue for development related projects due to such philanthropists and volunteers". He added.
Muhammad Yasin Malik, chairman of Hilton Pharmaceuticals, thanked President Dr Arif Alvi for being chief guest at inaugural ceremony of solar power project and presented memento to the President.
