The government on Monday reiterated its commitment to open Kartarpur Corridor on the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak to facilitate Sikh community for paying visit to the Gurdwara. Speaking to a gathering at National Minorities Day held at the Presidency, Prime Minister Imran Khan said the government would protect and develop religious places of all minorities. He said that opening of Kartarpur Corridor would be the first step for the Sikh community and the present government would fully facilitate the Sikh community and develop their worship places and protect them as these were protected in the State of Medina.
He said that no poor can win a case in the court while 43 percent children have stunted growth and all of them are from weak segments of society. He added the government's war is for the rights of the people and rule of law and all efforts would be made to make this country a modern state on the ideals of State of Medina. The Prime Minister said that since coming to power he has been repeatedly stating that Pakistan is the only country in the world that was founded on the basis of Islam. The Premier said that even most of the things in modern countries have been taken from the State of Media. He said that minorities enjoyed every right and protection in the State of Media. There was complete freedom to the minorities and even the caliph was under the law and answerable to every action.
The Prime Minister regretted that situation in Pakistan is completely opposite to the State of Medina and when those who have increased the debt to Rs30 trillion and stashed money abroad are asked to answer where the amount was utilised, they name it political victimisation. "While I have produced 60 documents in the court of law during the nine-month trial," he added.
President Dr Arif Alvi stated that present government believes in pursuing the ideals of State of Medina to ensure equal rights to all its citizens irrespective of their caste, creed, sect and religion. Citing the example of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him), he stated that he (Peace be Upon Him) always raised voice for the rights of deprived segments of the society including the minorities. "The teachings of the Holy Prophet serve as a guiding principle for us as how to treat with the minorities," added the President. He said Pakistan is standing at a critical phase and will move ahead morally and economically.
