Senators' privilege motions: PIA staff, FC personnel apologise for 'misbehaviour'

The Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges took up the privilege motions regarding misbehaviour of the FC Balochistan personnel with Senator Usman Khan and of the PIA airhostess with Senator Sajid Mir.
Although the apology from the concerned FC personnel was accepted, the committee decided to call IG Balochistan in the next meeting. Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq chaired the huddle where Wing Commandant FC Balochistan Adeel briefed and apologised on misbehaviour by a Sobidar with Senator Usman. He said that soon after the incident, FC Balochistan has prepared SOP to avert such incidents. However, Usman Kakar stated it was ensured that SOP would be prepared with recommendation of the members of the committee.
Senator Raza Rabbani said IG FC Balochistan did not bother to attend the committee meeting despite issuance of notice to him and it has become a matter of privilege of the committee. He further said, "We accept the apology from Sobidar FC but IG Balochistan should have a call with courtesy that he could not appear in the meeting." Then, committee decided to call him to the next meeting.
Minister Incharge of the Aviation Division Muhammad Mian Soomro briefed the committee on PIA-related episode. He said PIA would conduct an inquiry regarding irresponsible attitude of the airhostess with Senator Prof Sajid Mir and that inquiry report would be submitted to the committee. He assured that the government was committed to revamping and improving the services and standards of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) for passengers.
The Chief pilot aviation, concerned airhostess and PIA officers apologised on her attitude and the committee accepted conditional apology of the airhostess, subject to inquiry report of the PIA.
Senator Mir said that while travelling from Lahore to Islamabad by PIA on July 4, 2018 when the flight was about to land at Islamabad airport, he suddenly felt his sugar level was going down so he requested the airhostess to give him something to
Zeat or drink immediately but she refused to serve anything. The panel deferred discussion on other privilege motions moved by Senator Behramanad Khan Tangi and Senator Qurat-ul-Ain Marri as they were not present due to suspension of their membership by Election Commission of Pakistan for not submitting the required details of their assets.
The meeting was attended by Senators Mian Raza Rabbani, Dr Asif Kirmani, Pervaiz Rasheed, Dilawar Khan, Khanzada Khan, John Kenneth Williams, Professor Sajid Mir and Muhammad Usman Khan.
