Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak formally inaugurated a state of the art School of Investigation here on Wednesday. Keeping in view the increased usage of technology in modern day crime, a strong need was felt to build the capacity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police Investigation Wing so as to bring it at par with its contemporaries across the world.
It is expected that the training imparted in this school will enable the police investigators to conduct investigations in a scientific manner which in turn will have positive effects on the conviction rates and the overall working of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.
The School of Investigation which has been established by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police form its own resources in the shortest possible time will be headed by a Director who will look after the administration while an officer of the rank of DIG has been appointed to look after the training affairs.
Moreover, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has engaged highly qualified specialists from across the country to deliver lecture to the participants in the school. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has started different capacity building courses for the investigators in the school including crime scene preservation, evidence collection, evidence preservation as per the modern day best practices, cellular forensics, geo tagging & geo fencing for planning crime control, preparation of case file and interview/interrogation techniques.
The Chief Minister was briefed by the DIG Training Azad Khan about the various sections for the school, the content of modules being taught to the officers and the qualifications of faculty members. During his visit, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in addition to visiting the various sections of the school, interacted with the first batch of 25 police officers undergoing training in the school.
The IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa briefed the Chief Minister about the initiatives taken for the capacity building of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and the future plans of police Training Wing. The recently established School of Investigation is the first in a series of training institutes being established as a part of capacity building initiative for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.
The Chief Minister was informed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police will soon be launching School of Intelligence, Bomb Disposal School, School of Traffic Management, Police Training College Swabi and Police Training College Malakand. The School of Intelligence in Abbottabad will be made operational by the end of this month. During the visit, the Chief Minister was informed by the IGP that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has the pride of being the first police force in the entire country which has established specialised training institutes for the capacity building of its human resource.
Appreciating the quality of training imparted to the trainees and the future plans of the police department, the Chief Minister lauded the vision & multi-dimensional initiative of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police leadership for capacity building of police force and hoped that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police will continue to work with the same zeal and fervour.
The IGP briefed the Chief Minister about the future plans of running multiple courses in the School of Investigation and the problems faced in its materialisation due to limited class rooms. The Chief Minister was requested to allow the provision of additional class rooms. Terming police training as his top priority, the Chief Minister agreed with the IGP's request for additional class rooms and pledged his government's continued support to the police department.
