Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz reached here on Sunday evening to kick off his three-day visit to Germany. The Prime Minister and his entourage were received by Asif Ezdi, Pakistan's Ambassador to Germany, along with senior officials of the German foreign ministry. Soon after his arrival Shaukat Aziz met Siemens Member Policy Dr Klaus Wucherer.
During his one-day stay in Frankfurt, the Prime Minister will also meet Erich Jonscher, President Daimler Chrysler and Juergen Fitscher, Deutsche Bank Executive Committee Member.
ON BOARD SPECIAL PLANE: While talking to media men, the Prime Minister said that trade, UN reforms, fight against terrorism, transfer of technology, and exploring means to get technology regarding alternate energy and co-operation in skill-sharing would be the main focus of the visit to Germany and Italy.
Shaukat Aziz said Germany being an important member of the European Union can play vital role in promoting Pakistan's interests in the EU market.
He said during his talks with German Chancellor Schroeder the main focus would be to enhance bilateral trade, investment and economic co-operation and discuss the UN reforms.
Aziz said that he would hold meetings with members of civil society, businessmen, bankers and government officials to promote image of Pakistan. "Regional and global issues of mutual interest including Kashmir, Middle East, Iraq, and Afghanistan would also come under discussion," he said.
The Prime Minister said we need to portray the true and enlightened image of Islam and this would also be one of the important agenda during his talks with the German leaders, the local community and the businessmen.
He said that the leading businessmen of Pakistan accompanying him would also interact with the business community of Germany and Italy to promote trade with these countries.
The Prime Minister said during the visit he would also have interaction with Pakistani community living in these countries.
Shaukat Aziz said he has always tried his best to promote Pakistan's relations with developed countries so that Pakistan could also get benefit from their success.
Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid, Minister for Environment Major Tahir Iqbal, (Retd) Minister for Privatisation Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Minister of State for Housing Sardar Asif Nakai, members of parliament, leading businessmen and high officials accompany the Prime Minister.
