Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Sunday that the pace of development activities in the country was being expedited. In this regard the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) will meet after every three months.
He was talking to delegations of minorities, notables, agriculturists and business people here at the Circuit House. The Prime Minister told the members of delegations that agricultural sector would be given priority, and availability of bulldozers to farmers would be ensured for increased agriculture productivity.
Referring to law and order situation, the Prime Minister recalled that the situation on the borders of three provinces was not good. He said that to bring law and order under control, Police department has been provided Rs 600 million for modernisation, for setting up police posts and police stations along with provision of vehicles and weapons besides carrying out new recruitment.
Jamali said that some 1100 vacancies are to be filled in police. Of them 60 percent would be filled from border districts of Jacobabad, Jafferabbad and Rajanpur. However, the recruitment would be made on merit, he added.
He announced a donation of a fire tender for Jacobabad and a coaster for local girls college.
He said that a number of vacancies are there in the education department, which has been directed to fill the same expeditiously, on merit and in a transparent manner, as the government gives greater priority to education.
Later, addressing a gathering at the local Circuit House lawn organised by PM's co-ordinator Mansab Ali Jakharani, the Prime Minister said that genuine demands of people of Jacobabad would be fulfilled without any delay.
He referred to the disease of Hepatitis B and said that a liver transplant unit has been established in Karachi at a cost of Rs 450 million.
He said that the government has provided Rs 2.2 million for vaccination of Jacobabad people against Hepatitis B.
On the occasion, Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar also assured the people that problems faced by them would be solved and funds would be provided for provision of civic amenities including drinking water. Rs 70 million has already been released in this connection while remaining funds will be made available by the Federal Government, he added.
He said he has asked the Advisor Health to visit Jacobabad to review the situation concerning the spread of Hepatitis B.
On the occasion glowing tributes were paid to late Mir Jaffer Khan Jamali.
Earlier, Mansab Jakharani welcomed the Prime Minister and other dignitaries and apprised the Prime Minister about the problems of Jacobabad district.
The Prime Minister assured him of his full co-operation for their solution.
