Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) Lahore Branch Committee arranged a Seminar in collaboration with NAB on 'Role of Finance Professionals in Combating Bribery and Corruption' recently at Governor House Punjab. Session speaker was Rubina Qadir, Addl Director NAB and Zafar Iqbal Mufti, NAB Expert.

Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Governor Punjab, was the Chief Guest of the Event and M. Ali Latif, President PIPFA, was the Guest of honour of this session. The learned speakers from NAB, Rubina Qadir & Zafar Mufti delivered presentation and created awareness about NAB, its establishment and Functions.

The speakers further explained role of NAB in handling Financial Crimes, Nature and type of Financial Crimes, relevant laws, jurisdiction matters and complaint filing process. This presentation was followed by a very interactive question and answer session which showed keen interest of the participants.

According to the spokesperson Chief Guest, Governor Punjab, expressed his views and congratulate PIPFA and NAB management for organizing this seminar re-iterated that all efforts will be made to root out corruption.

M Ali Latif, President PIPFA and Partner M/s Muniff Ziauddin & Co, Chartered Accountants, expressed his views about role of professional accountants in combating corruption. He also encouraged NAB to play their respective vital role in proposing changes in relevant laws as a preventive measure so as to achieve goal of "Destroying Corruption and Build Pakistan".

He further emphasized that NAB Laws may be amended to include Protection of Whistle blowers in both Corporate & Public Sector. He also suggested NAB to consider launch of "Ethics App" in association with national accountancy bodies, for assisting professionals in corporate & public sector in making the right decision.

Usman Ahsan, Vice president PIPFA, presented vote of thanks to Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, Members, NAB officials, Branch Committee and the organizing team of PIPFA Lahore and appreciated the efforts of Branch Committee for arranging such knowledgeable event.
