KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan on Monday formally launched its first NBP EMV/Contactless Debit Card and Mobile Banking facilities as a step towards digitalization in the line with global changes in the banking sector.

Speaking at the launching ceremony held at NBP Head Office here, NBP President Arif Usmani emphasized on the fast digitalization which will be shaping future of the banking sector. And, he continued, NBP was cognizant to the future banking needs.

He said NBP had embarked upon various technology initiatives to provide multiple delivery channels. The launch of the first NBP EMV and Contactless Debt Card, and Mobile Banking App are a part of the journey of the bank to provide the best products to its customers.

NBP President claimed that NBP’s Debt Card had more security features than those of other banks.

He said NBP required rapid technological changes internally to match with the external changes in the banking sector.

To a query, he said NBP had 1509 branches and it would be definitely a big task to go for modernization and training the employees accordingly.

"I would try to play the best possible role in making NBP the most efficient and profitable bank," he pledged.

NBP's Group Head of Payment Services and Digital Banking Muhammad Farooq said the launch of the above products/facilities are important milestones for the National Bank . This would provide choice to the customers amongst the leading card schemes based on their unique transactional requirements coupled with NBP’s unparalleled branch and ATM footprint across the country.

NBP's Heads of different departments also attended.
