"The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is encouraged by the joint statement issued by the militaries of India and Pakistan on their agreement to observing the ceasefire at the Line of Control in Kashmir and engaging through established mechanisms," a statement said.
The President of the UN General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir, also welcomed the agreement between Pakistan and India, saying that this accord has set an example for others and demonstrates the General Assembly's value.
The incidents of systematic violence and mass rapes in IIOJK have been documented by a number of independent Commissions, human rights organzations, global media and civil society organizations, including the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the FO said.
“The number of successful applicants for domicile certificates that appear to be from outside Jammu and Kashmir raises concerns that demographic change on a linguistic, religious and ethnic basis is already underway,” the UN experts said.
The experts are in contact with the Indian government on this matter.
He said it is another matter that the international community, including the Security Council, has been unable to find political solutions to several long-standing disputes such as Jammu and Kashmir.
UN peacekeeping has so far not been used to impose peace; but rather to help preserve peace and foster conditions for the political resolution of the underlying conflicts and disputes,” Akram said.
“We know that the Council has the potential to be an important forum for those fighting tyranny and injustice around the world. By being present at the table, we seek to reform it and ensure it can live up to that potential,” a senior State Department official said.
The report vindicates Pakistan’s longstanding position on threats posed to Pakistan and the region by groups like the TTP, JuA, HuA and their affiliates, based in Afghanistan, FO said.
The FO said Pakistan stands firm in its resolve to partner with international community against the menace of terrorism.
