imageKARACHI: Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan Wednesday said that good governance is pivotal for timely solution of grievances of masses.

This he said while talking to a delegation of participants of 6th post induction course in governance and management being conducted by Management and Professional Development Department Punjab, here at the Governor House.

Dr. Ebad said that good governance is also linked with the accelerated development of any part of a country as managing limited resources in a befitting manner is bound to benefit the residents with provision of better and improved basic amenities.

Replying to a question about policing in Sindh, Dr. Ebad said that police play an important role in maintaining peaceful atmosphere and law and order, and as such the issue of induction of police personnel is being given priority and it is being ensured to recruit policemen on merit and with utmost transparency.

Besides, a counter-terrorism wing has also been established to nab terrorists and criminals, he added and said ex-servicemen are also being hired to make police force more effective and trained.

He said that peaceful general elections of 2013 and local bodies polls of 2015 are ample proof of the efforts being put in by law enforcement agencies, throughout Sindh.

Governor further said that Karachi has now become more peaceful and vibrant city after continuing operation against terrorists, target killers, extortionists and kidnappers, as compared to the situation of two years ago.

The participants of the course asked various questions regarding management and governance in various departments of Sindh Government, and shared their experiences about working in Government of Punjab.
