imageNational University of Science and Technology (NUST) now stands among the world top 150 universities under 50 years old, in rankings released by the Times Higher Education (THE).

As per Times 150 ‘Under 50 Rankings 2016’, NUST ranked 101 among 150 top young universities, in doing the Islamabad based university has become the only institute from Pakistan to join the league.

As per the Times Higher Education, the table uses the same 13 performance indicators as its flagship i.e. Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which includes teaching, research, citations, international outlook and knowledge transfer. However, methodology has been tuned to give less weight to reputation.

As pre the table, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) of Switzerland topped the Times Higher Education 150 Under 50 Rankings-2016 for the second year in a row, claiming the top spot despite fierce competition from universities in East Asia.

Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU), founded just 25 years ago, and was second on the list, making it Asia’s top young institution for the first time in the ranking’s five-year history. There were 4 universities from East Asia ranked in the top 10, indicating the rise of East Asian institutes.
