ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have failed to control street crimes and car thefts in the Federal Capital, as nine vehicles were snatched or lifted from different areas, seven incidents of dacoities were also recorded, besides abduction of three women last week.

The Capital Police have claimed to have impounded 156 bikes and 13 vehicles during general checking, 60 suspects were arrested, 03 illegal pistols were recovered, whereas cases of fake currency and stolen property were also registered, but rise in street crimes, car lifting, dacoities and theft remain a matter of concern for the people living in the Capital. According to data gathered by Business Recorder, the ratio of heinous crimes including robberies, kidnapping and murders are increasing with each passing day in the city despite tall claims by capital police high-ups.

Last week Abpara Police station registered one case of car lifting and two cases of dacoities. On July 16, Ahmad Shah filed a complaint with Abpara police station that his car bearing registration number RIG 2460 has been stolen from GPO parking.

Kohsar police station registered one case each of car and motorbike lifting, two of kidnapping and three dacoity. Mansoor Ali on July 19 registered a complaint in the police station that his car bearing registration number AUX 671 was stolen from Gulistan plaza parking.

Tarnol police station registered one case of car lifting. On July 17, Asad Abbas filed a complaint with Tarnol police station that his car bearing registration number RIW 5402 has been stolen from his porch. Sabzi Mandi police station registered a case of car lifting during the last week. On July 13, Tariq Mehmood filed complained that his car bearing registration number LZA 5971 was stolen from sabzi mandi parking by unknown people.

Industrial Area police station registered two cases of car and one case of motorbike lifting during last week. On July 17, Mehmood S/o Tufail registered a complaint with the police station, saying that his car bearing registration number WA 685 was stolen by unknown people from front of his house. On July 14, Arshad Abbas Zaidi registered a complaint with the police station that his car was stolen by unknown people from the front of his house. Secretariat police station registered one case of kidnapping. Bara Kahu police station registered a case each of robbery and kidnapping during the last week. Police officials claim that two 30-bore pistols and 30 bullets were recovered from kidnappers and further investigation is underway. Tarnol police station arrested drug pusher Akbar Zaman and recovered 1.100 kilogram hashish from him. Koral Police and traffic police jointly conducted an operation and arrested four kidnappers and recovered vehicle, two pistols along ammunition.

Police further claimed to have impounded 168 bikes and 31 vehicles during general hold up, 78 suspects, 15 beggars were arrested and it also recovered 03 illicit pistols.
