ISLAMABAD: The export of cement from the country during the first ten months of current financial year registered an increase of 3.50 percent and recorded at 6,985,500 metric tons as compared to 7,619,299 metric tons during the same period of last year.

According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the country earned US$ 387.268 million during the period from July-April 2011-12 as against US$ 374.156 million during the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, during the period under review, the export of jewelry also posted positive growth of 106.87 percent as jewelry of different designs worth US$ 649.71 million exported.

The export of jewelry during the period from July-April 2010-11 was recorded at US$ 314 million, the data revealed.

However, the export of gems during last ten months of the year 2011-12 registered negative growth of 5.07 percent as the export of gems come down from US$ 3.235 million to US$ 3.071 million during the period under review.

Molasses export from the country in last ten months of current year registered increase of 22.20 percent as about 99,425 metric tons molasses worth US$ 12.6 million exported as against the export of 85,970 metric tons valuing US$ 10.3 million during same period of last year, it added.

During the period from July-April 2011-12, the export of gur and gur products increased by 239.30 percent as about 31,029 metric tons of gur and gur products worth US$ 111.7 million exported.
