KARACHI: Tom Cruise may be a millionaire Hollywood legend, but he was unable to foot a £220 restaurant bill.
According to media sources, Cruise visited the restaurant with a group of friends and insisted on paying the bill but couldn't as the restaurant didn't accept his American Express card and Cruise was only carrying US dollars.
Darshit Hora, the restaurant manager, told the media sources, “It was a big shock for us when he walked in. He said we had been recommended to him, but he would not say by whom.”
“They said someone special was coming but did not say who it was. When he came in it was a big shock but we just wanted to be professional,” he added.
The 50 year-old, who has just finalized his public divorce with actress Katie Holmes, ordered fish and chicken starters and two lobster dishes for his party.
He also ordered two chicken tikka masalas, two lamb dishes, along with rice and bread sides - with the whole meal costing £220.85.
The problem allegedly arose because the eatery couldn’t accept his American Express card and the star was only carrying US dollars.
“He said his whole group only had dollars, and then a lady came forward and paid in 50 pound notes,” Hora told media.
The Hollywood actor is currently filming scenes for “All You Need is Kill” in the UK.
