LONDON: Gold prices briefly jumped 1 percent to session highs at $1,614.29 an ounce on Thursday after European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi said the ECB may undertake outright open market operations to safeguard the euro.
Spot gold quickly pared gains, however, and was at $1,603.99 an ounce at 1240 GMT, up 0.4 percent.
