'National security intimately linked to economy': COAS tells businessmen, economic team

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that national security is intimately linked to economy while prosperity is function of balance in security needs economic growth.
On Wednesday, businessmen and government economic team called on the COAS at Army auditorium. In the meeting discussions were held between the COAS and stakeholders. After the meeting, the Director General Inter-Service Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor took to his Twitter handle and posted a press release.
The press release states that the army chief said that the main aim of the meetings and discussions was to bring stakeholders at one platform to 'formulate recommendations for a synergistic way forward'.
"COAS said that accessibility and responsiveness of government economic teams to business community displayed understanding between public and private institution is good sign for intended positivity trajectory in economic activity," the press release said.

During the meeting, the economic team apprised the businessmen about initiatives being introduced by the government to facilitate businesses. The businessmen shared their suggestions with the economic team on how to improve environment for ease of dong businesses.
"The businessmen assured that they will cooperate in implementation of government reform and also play their part by paying taxes and investing in a socially and economically responsible manner,” the statement added.
