CM forbids FIRs against parents for refusing polio vaccination
PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan Monday convened an emergency high level emergency meeting here and directed not to register FIRs against parents for refusing polio vaccination to their children.
He directed the officials concerned to convince the parents for administering polio drops to their children against the crippling disease to protect them from permanent disability.
The CM also directed strict legal action against those elements whether political or local, propagating against polio drops and vaccination.
He asked police department to provide full security cover to polio vaccination teams to avoid any untoward incident.
Earlier, the meeting took notice of poor arrangements and performance by DHOs Lakki Marwat and Bannu during polio vaccination drive and decided to suspend the two officials.
The meeting also decided to give special powers to commissioners during the upcoming polio vaccination drive.
On the occasion Special Assistant to Chief Minister for polio Babar bin Atta briefed the meeting about social medial campaign to create awareness among masses about polio vaccination.
The meeting was attended by high-ups of all relevant departments.
