Chairman Businessmen Panel of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mian Anjum Nisar has urged the Prime Minister to defer the CNIC condition on shopping by unregistered persons worth Rs 50,000 or above for three months and introduce reforms in phases.
Talking to a businessmen delegation on Monday, Mian Anjum Nisar asked the Prime Minister to direct the Federal Board of Revenue to take steps to deal with the expected crisis emerging out of the CNIC condition.
The new crisis can take place after August 1 following imposition of CNIC condition, he said, and urged the government to hold dialogue with the stakeholders.
He said the traders had already observed strike and now industrialists are also confused as closure of markets would impact their production. He was of the view that the government should take the stakeholders on board before taking any decision. He said the government decisions have resulted in decline in its revenue.
He further said the government should fulfill the promises made with the business community regarding classification of traders in A, B and C categories and impose fixed tax of Rs 5,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 which would help government achieve revenue collection target.
He said the FBR has not yet taken the CNIC issue seriously and did not take any decision in this regard while August 1 approaching fast. The BMP chief urged the government to take business friendly decisions to facilitate the business community.
