This is apropos a Business Recorder news item "Qatar distributes Gaza funds" carried by the newspaper yesterday. According to it, Qatar began distributing millions of dollars in aid in the Gaza Strip on Monday in a fresh bid to restore calm after a flareup with Israel."
Whatever Qatar as one of the frontline Arab states has been doing in relation to the Palestinian cause deserves. The Palestinians' plight can be attributed to a variety of factors. It is easy to be pessimistic - even cynical - about what's going on in the Arab world. The sharp divisions within the Arab world have only emboldened Israel to step up aggression against the Palestinian people. It is said that Doha carried some influence with Tel Aviv. It must, therefore, take every possible step aimed at resolution of the protracted Israel-Palestine conflict. After all, Qatar has played the principal role in the downfall of Moammar Qadhafi in Libya.
