The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Tuesday submitted a list of its 35 witnesses, including former ministers for water and power Naveed Qamar and Khawaja Asif to testify in Nandipur power project reference against former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, former Law Minister Babar Awan and others. The bureau produced a list of 35 witnesses before Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik in a reference filed regarding delay in Nandipur power project against Ashraf, Awan and five other accused persons.
The Accountability Court on March 11 indicted Ashraf, Awan Muhammad Masood Chishti, former secretary law, Justice Riaz Kiyani, former secretary law, Shamila Mahmood, former research consultant, Ministry of Law & Justice, Dr Riaz Mahmood, former senior joint secretary, Ministry of Law & Justice, and Shahid Rafi, former secretary Ministry of Water and adjourned hearing till March 19.
The witness list includes former federal ministers Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Naveed Qamar and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif.
Other witnesses in the case include Muhammad Naeem, section officer Ministry of Energy, Altaf Hussain Ministry of Energy, Tanweer Saeed Barlas section officer Ministry of Law and justice, Khalid Mehmood assistant Ministry of Law and justice, Qamar Mehmood Qureshi assistant private secretary Ministry of Law and justice, Shahid Ali finance division, Syed Abid Ahmed section officer Cabinet wing, Muhammad Ahmed Babar assistant cabinet wing, and Muhammad Khalil Chaudhry section officer cabinet wing.
The list also include Imtiaz Feroz Gondal Director Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Qadeer PEPCO, Ijaz Ahmed Babar PEPCO, Muhammad Bilal Bhutt former CFO GENCO, Saifullah Joint Secretary Minister of water and power, Shahid Sattar advisor Ministry of water and power, Tahir Bashrat Cheem former MD PEPCO, Tariq Hamid former Chairman WAPDA, Faheem Ahmed account officer NPGCL, Masood Ahmed Director Finance NPGCL, Ghulam Rasool PS to Secretary Law, Shahid Ali Deputy Secretary Finance division, Irfan Ahmed Sheikh former section officer Ministry of Law and Justice and Uzma Akhtar former additional draftsman Ministry of law and justice. The witness also include officials including Zahid Usman Deputy Director NAB, Ghazanfar Ali Deputy Director NAB, Mian Muhammad Umar Nadeem Assistant Director NAB, Asma Chuadhry Deputy Director NAB, Qaiser Rafique NAB investigation officer, Malik Muhammad Uziar investigation officer and others.
