Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Eng. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said knowledge and research was the main step for the peace and development of any nation. He said education is prerequisite for achieving prosperity and development. He further said youth of the country should play a positive role in constructing the image of our society because only the educated youth can eradicate the corruption and bring positive changes.
He said that our youth are brilliant and talented and we are committed to equip them with the latest knowledge so that we could change the course of history and the destiny of the nation. He said that education is essential for achieving a respectable position among comity of nation. He expressed these views while addressing the 8th Convocation of City University of Science and Information Technology (CUSIT), Peshawar on Tuesday.
Governor distributed 1074 degrees among students of different disciplines and levels; it included students and scholars of MPhil, MS, MBA, BBA, BSc, Engineering, English, Mathematics and Education. Among the other guests, chairman of PMEI, Zahoor Sethi, member board of governors and guests from different schools of thoughts also participated. Addressing the Convocation ceremony of the City University as a chief guest, the Governor said that steps are being taken to ensure the provision of better and higher education facilities to the students adding that youth should play a constructive role in development of country.
He said that militancy, lawlessness, and deprivations were not the destiny of our next generation; rather they need favourable environment for a better future. He said that government is making concerted efforts to secure the future of our children. The Governor appreciated the efforts of administration of City University for providing the better education environment to the students.
While congratulating the graduating students, the Governor urged them to play a positive role in constructing the image of our society as a whole, because only educated youth can eradicate corruption from the society and bring positive change. Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Dr Ataullah Shah also addressed the student. At the end the president of City University, Saboor Sethi thanked the Governor for coming to the ceremony, only despite his busy schedule. He further emphasised that his institutes will continue to play their role in the betterment of the society and will not compromise on the standards. He also added that his institute gives different grants and scholarships on merit and need basis. At the conclusion of the ceremony the Governor congratulated and applause 48 gold medallists and their parents.
Talking to media on this occasion, the Governor said that due to the great sacrifices rendered by tribesmen and our security forces, the peace has been restored and now we are entering into new phase of peace and stability. He said the process of repatriation of TDPs has already been started and more than 140000 TDPs have been repatriated to their native homes.
He said the government would ensure complete return of temporarily displaced persons to their native areas with honour and respect and no efforts will be spared to bring them into mainstream. He said the Prime Minister, Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and incumbent government was committed and resolved to bring FATA at par with the rest of the country in terms of facilities. He said that the reforms process has been initiated in tribal areas for the welfare of tribesmen adding that the future of FATA will be decided with the wishes and popular will of the patriotic tribal people.
