Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival up to October 15th, 2015. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 4,663,876 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan as of October 15th showing a decrease of 12.73 percent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 5,344,384 bales.
According to the fourth fortnightly report of PCGA issued here today, Chairman of PCGA Shehzad Ali Khan briefed about cotton production and said Out of the total arrivals, 4.66 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 2,152,240 bales decrease of 21.61 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 2,511,636 bales while last year Sindh received 2,598,980 bales merely 3.36% less.
Textile mills have bought 3,103,607 bales while exporters bought 297,540 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 3,401,147 bales. Multan received 37,640 bales 57.51 percent short than last year, Lodhran 38,794 bales 38.86% short, Khanewal 278,845 bales 32.39% short, Muzaffargarh 105,232 bales an increase of 57.29%, Dera Ghazi Khan 118,597 bales an increase of 100%, Rajanpur 141,061 bales, 21.41% increase, Layyah 97,880, 48.09% increase, Vehari 208,286 bales 46.75% less, Sahiwal 168,021 bales 46.71% less than last year, Pakpattan 59,028 bales 50.33% less, Okara 19,195 bales 39.43% less, Kasur 10,170 bales, 17.72% less, Toba Tek Singh 102,181 bales, Faisalabad 34,840 bales, Jhang 32,430 bales, Mianwali 64,555, Bhakkar 38,500 Sargodha 5,350, Rahimyar Khan 192,096 bales, Bahawalpur 192,023 bales, and Bahawalnagar 205,128 bales.
In Sindh: Hyderabad 208,659 bales 2.20% less than last year, Mirpurkhas (Thar) 257,557 bales 23,57% less, Sangarh ,1,147,669 bales 17.38% increase, Nawabshah 281,600 bales, Naushero Feroze 145,655 bales, Jamshoro 125,636 bales, Badin 27,055 bales and Balochistan 33,700 bales. Total 965 ginning factories are operational in the country, out of them 694 in Punjab and 271 in Sindh. Total 1,262,729 bales are lying in unsold stock.
