Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with the officers recently promoted to BS-22, at the PM House here this morning. The Prime Minister congratulated the newly promoted officers and said this is their time to pay back to the nation based on their average three decades of experience. He said their promotions were done purely on merit, in line with government's policy of transparency and good governance.
He directed the top level civil servants to increase efficiency in their departments and make a good team of talented officers who can take Pakistan towards development and prosperity. He said a government officer should work in the best interest of the country and nation, without any political bias and his personal feelings should not be reflected in his working. Senior officers should present themselves as role models of integrity and efficiency to their subordinates, he added.
The Prime Minister said that for the first time in country's history smaller occupational groups have also been given representation at the top level of civil bureaucracy to improve their service prospects and raise their morale. The Prime Minister sought suggestions from the officers regarding civil service reforms which he said are aimed at providing best possible service to the people, giving rewards to better performing officers and punish those who indulge in corruption, malpractices or slackness.
