Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif has said the board's project Citizen Feedback Monitoring Programme is committed to strengthening democracy by enabling transfer of powers from state to citizens. In a meeting, he chaired in his office on Monday, also drawing in renowned system integrators of the Punjab IT Director General Rizwan Rashid and Joint Director e-Governance Fasieh Mehta of the board, he said the programme was helping the citizens to give their feedback on any corruption or misconduct found in a public office where they contacted to avail common public services such as domicile certificate, emergency services, registry of properties and rescue service.
He revealed that during the past six months, almost 9.2 million robo-calls of the chief minister and SMS messages had been sent to the citizens. "But still some flaws have been identified in that system. To overcome those flaws, the Punjab government has decided to improve the system by installing 2000 Kiosk machines at prominent places in government offices. The manned kiosks will enable illiterate citizens to send their feedback regarding the behaviour of the government servants whom they approached to get public services.
In the first phase of the project, KIOSKS shall be installed at public service offices of health, education and revenue departments." He also interchanged the ideas with the participants to make that dream true and the system integrators gave their input in form of their company's expertise and potential. The vendors in the meeting showed active involvement and interest in the new concept and were determined to work alongside the board for a more transparent and citizen centric governance system.
