KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 123,010 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,261 tonnes of import cargo and 43,749 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 79,261 comprised of 33,647 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 476 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 3,173 tonnes of Canola, 4,159 tonnes of Sugar and 37,806 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,749 tonnes comprised of 39,304 tonnes of containerized cargo, 4,445 tonnes of Clinkers.
As many as 6728 containers comprising of 2841 containers import and 3887 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 514 of 20’s and 626 of 40’s loaded while 33 of 20’s and 521 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 907 of 20’s and 816 of 40’s loaded containers while 42 of 20’s and 653 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Approximately, 03 ships namely, Independent Spirit, Demeter Leader and Grace have berthed at the Karachi Port on Tuesday.
Nearly 09 ships namely, Aal Singapore, Demeter Leader, Ever Alliance, Csl Sophie, Ningbo Express, Teera Bhum, Argeus, Apl Florida and Tug Baltic have sailed out from the Karachi Port on the same day.
Some 07 ships namely, oocl Genoa, Huundai Privilege, Mohar, Fu Hai, CT Ace, Team Focus and San Sebastian were expected to arrive on the Port on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
Berth occupancy remained on high side at the port where fourteen ships were engaged to load/offload Containers, Condensate, Coal, Steel Coil, General cargo, Chemicals, Soya bean and Palm oil, out of them, three ships, Hellespont Progress, Dorado and Port Estrela sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, and three more ships, Maersk Bentonville, MSC Denisse and Gion Traders are expected to sail from QICT and EVTL on same day (today) in the afternoon.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 159,716 tonnes, comprising 116,624 tonnes imports cargo and 43,092 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,823 Containers (1,274 TEUs imports and ,1549 TEUs export), was handled at the port .
There are twenty two ships are currently at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim and waiting for berths, out of them five ships, BBG Ocean, Wealthy Loyal, SCF Prime, Gulf Mews and Al-Jassasiya carrying Coal, Palm oil, Gas oil, Chemicals and Natural gas are expected take berths at PQEPT, LCT, FOTCO, EVTL and EETL on Tuesday (today), 3rd August-2021.
