HYDERABAD: The Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani while addressing a press conference at Shahbaz Hall Hyderabad Friday said that his visit to Hyderabad was aimed to see the implementation on SOPs of the government for Covid-19 in the educational institutions of the Hyderabad District.

He said that SOPs were issued 15 days prior to the opening of educational institutions in the province but unfortunately few private and government schools failed to implement SOPs, those schools have been sealed. He informed that 4 more schools were sealed on Friday in Karachi.

He informed that in the first phase of opening of schools situation remained satisfactory in Hyderabad and added that parents and management of the schools must ensure the complete implementation on SOPs of the Health Department as Covid-19 cases have decreased but have not vanished yet. He said that if the situation of Covid-19 again got worse then we would have no other option but to close departments including educational institutions as nothing is more precious than human life.

He said that he would also visit other districts of the province to see the implementation on SOPs in schools.

He informed that according to the decision of NCOC the schools had to be opened in three phases, in the first phase 9th class to university level, in 2nd phase class 6 to 8 and in the last phase primary schools from class 1 to 5th had to be opened. He said that the Sindh government had decided to delay the opening of classes in the 2nd phase and now these classes would be opened from September 28 and added that provinces have authority to open schools according to the situation of their areas.

He said that after the report of 91 new cases of Covid-19 the opening of classes in the 2nd phase had been delayed, the further decision would be taken in the NCOC meeting in this regard.
