ISLAMABAD: The official suspension of pillion riding services is hampering investor confidence in Pakistan, Umar Farooq, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Tech Valley, has said.

Representatives from Bykea and Tech Valley called on Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque here on Friday.

Matters relating to continued suspension of pillion-riding services were discussed during the meeting.

Muneeb Maayr, founder and CEO of Bykea, told the federal minister that Bykea was one of the only Apps in Urdu that Pakistan's middle class used for affordable transport.

He stated that motorbike riders wore helmets that served as health visors, and pillion riding was a lot safer in the open air than traveling in buses and rickshaws and breathing recycled air in cars.

Umar Farooq, founder and CEO of Tech Valley, told the federal minister that official suspension of pillion riding services was hampering investors' confidence in Pakistan.

The federal minister appreciated the efforts of Bykea in helping the common man use technology and said that the ministry of IT would do its utmost to facilitate technology companies to work for the people of Pakistan and encourage foreign investment in the country.
