Pakistan suffers major blow ahead of India encounter
Pakistan Women cricket team suffered a major setback after all-rounder Bismah Maroof has been ruled out of the ongoing Women’s Cricket World Cup ahead of encounter with India, on Sunday.
Iram Javed will now replace Maroof informed ICC, who exited from the tournament after injuring her right hand during fielding against England earlier this week.
Maroof who immediately went off the field after suffering the injury, was later seen wearing a sling and sitting in the dressing room.
This comes as a major blow to the women in green, who are already ranked at the bottom of the table, facing two losses in two matches would now face India in Derby, without their premier batter.
Pakistan fast bowler Asmavia Iqbal went on to admit that the team missed Maroof after the 107-run loss to England.
Iram Javed, 25, has played seven ODIs and 19 T20Is for 138 runs and four wickets.
Pakistan will next face India in Derby on Sunday, July 2.
