KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Friday to inaugurate the completed section of the Karachi-Hyderabad M9 motorway project.
The Prime Minister was welcomed at the airport by Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The 75-kilometre completed section of the 136-kilometre Motorway comprises four interchanges, including Dada Bhoy, Industrial Valley, Nooriabad and Thano Bola Khan Interchange.
The four interchanges will provide access to various areas, including Keer Thar National Park, Jhampeer, Kinjhar Jheel and Thano Ahmed Khan.
The 136-km Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway project was launched on September 17, 2015, which is expected to be completed by March next year at a cost thirty-six billion rupees.
The government is spending twelve hundred billion rupees on various highways and motorways which will change the economic outlook of the country.
The ceremony will be attended by federal and provincial ministers, construction company Frontier Works Organization, higher officials of National Highway Authority, traders, industrialists and other dignitaries.
Afterwards, the prime minister will visit the home of former Sindh Governor Late Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui to express condolence with the family members.
