Pop icon Selena Gomez has touched a lot of hearts on Sunday night at American Music Awards (AMA) when she opened up about the struggles that have kept her out of the public eye for several months.
She made her much awaited return to the public eye after two and a half months, as she took a break and checked into rehab to focus on her mental health. She won the award for 'Favourite Pop/Rock Female artist' and it was her inspiring speech that stole the show.
"In 2014 this stage was actually the first time I was authentically 100 percent honest with all of you," she told the crowd. "I think its safe to say most of you know a lot of my life whether I liked it or not. I had to stop because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside and I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down."
She continued, "All I can say is I'm so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every day with people that I love. And I have to say thank you so much to my fans, because you guys are so damn loyal, and I don't know what I did to deserve you. But if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken. And if that's anything, whether you respect me or not, that's one thing you should know about me is, I care about people. And thank you so much for this, this is for you," foreign media reported.
Lady Gaga was visibly moved by Gomez's speech and showed some love for her backstage; she also posted on Instagram saying, "So dope I got to hang with the biggest rockstar of the night, (Ya, know besides Sting and Green Day) ...the girl with the biggest prize of all, a BIG Heart that she shares with the world".
