Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoter Association (POEPA) urged the government to establish Overseas Employment Promotion Bureau (OEPB) which will help in exploring new labour markets for absorption of Pakistani manpower abroad.
Sources told APP here on Sunday a delegation of POEPA informed Secretary Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Mohammad Hamayun Farshoori in a recent meeting that the late Minister for Labour, Mian Abdul Sattar Laleka had taken the decision of setting up OEPB.
The delegations said the labour secretary that Overseas Employment Promoters would be sent under the patronage of ministry of labour, for enhancing manpower export.
Delegation members pointed out that Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) have appointed few medical centres which are charging Rs 1950 per emigrant.
The exorbitant charges by these centres is an extra financial burden on the poor workers, they said adding, they should be allowed to get their medical check-up from any of the GCC approved medical centre.
