Thousands of Libyans demonstrated in the capital Monday against recent US military offensives in Iraq, particularly in the Sunni Muslim insurgent bastion of Fallujah.
Some 5,000 protestors gathered in front of UN offices, chanting "Where is the freedom promised by the United States," and "America has brought only death and destruction to Iraq," an AFP correspondent witnessed.
It was the second anti-American demonstration here in eight days, despite a spectacular rapprochement between the long-time foes since Libya's renunciation last year of its efforts to develop weapons of mass destruction.
