imageISLAMABAD: The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday decided to authorize inquiries and reference in different corruption cases.

The EBM of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was held under the chairmanship of Chairman NAB, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry at NAB Headquarters.

The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) decided to file one corruption reference against Syed Sohail Altaf, Ex-Secretary, Health Department, KP and others.

The accused allegedly caused loss to the tune of Rs 15.756 million to the national exchequer through corruption, corrupt practices and misuse of authority.

The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) decided to authorize two investigations.

First investigation was authorized against officers and officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others, in which the accused were alleged for corruption, corrupt practices and misappropriation in the sale of the building of Embassy of Pakistan in Jakarta.

Thus caused loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

Second investigation was authorized against officers and officials of Information and Archives Department, Govt. of Sindh and others. The accused persons were alleged for corruption and corrupt practices and misappropriation of funds in advertisement head.

In the same case, the EBM approved VR requests of M/S Xnine Communications Pvt Ltd of Rs 374,546,739 and M/S Insync Advertisement Private Limited of Rs 83,643,668.

The EBM decided to authorize two inquires in a case of Police Department of Sindh. First inquiry was authorized against officers and officials of police and officers and officials of AG Department Sindh and others.

The accused were alleged for misuse of authority, criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of government funds.

Thus caused loss of billion of rupees to the national exchequer.

Second inquiry was authorized against officers and officials of Sindh police Department and others.

In this case accused persons were alleged for misusing of authority by illegal appointments in Sindh Police.

The EBM also decided to authorize another five inquiries. First inquiry was authorized against Haji Muhammad Nawaz Kakar, Ex- Minister Balochistan Development Authority (BDA) Quetta and others.

In this case, the accused persons were alleged for corruption, corrupt practices and accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.

Second inquiry was authorized against Management of Federal Govt Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) and others.

In this case, the accused persons were alleged for illegal allotment of plots particularly in hardship and professional quotas by Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) management.

Third inquiry was authorized against officers and officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others.

In this case, the accused persons were alleged for corruption and corrupt practices in the sale of the building of Embassy of Pakistan at Tokyo, Japan.

Thus caused loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

Fourth inquiry was authorized against CDA officials and others for forged allotting of land measuring 137K-01M (17.3 Acres) in Northern Strip in violation of rules.

In this case, the accused persons fraudulently allotted land of worth Rs 2 billion in sectors F-11, E-12 and Blue Area acquired by CDA.

Fifth inquiry was authorized against officers and officials of OGRA and others. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for issuance of CNG licenses in violation of rules.

Thus caused loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

In a Complaint Verification against Fayyaz Ali Butt, MPA and others. The EBM decided to refer the case to Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh for further necessary action as per law.

At the end, Chairman NAB, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry reiterated his determination for eradication of corruption across the board by adopting zero tolerance policy throughout the country.

He directed all officers and officials of NAB to put their best efforts in conduct of complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations against corrupts in accordance with law, transparently and on merit.
