KARACHI: K-Electric has provided details of its ongoing Operation Burq campaign carried out in different areas of Karachi, said Spokesperson of the utility service here Friday.
The raids were conducted in areas included Orangi, Lyari, Baldia, Uthal, SITE amongst others.
Almost 2,000 illegal connections were pulled down and confiscated from different areas whereas these illegal connections (Kunda wires) weighed over 1200 KG. An FIR was lodged against a consumer involved in direct electricity theft and using a heavy load in the area of Gizri

inity a Sofa Showroom/Workshop was also raided and penalized. Raids were conducted in Baldia, SITE, Bahadurabad, Nazimabad, Tipu Sultan, Garden, Clifton, Defence, Korangi, Johar, Shah Faisal, North Karachi, Surjani, Gulshan and Malir.
Spokesperson KE added, "There is a false perception being built that the power utility is only going after the small-time thieves which is wrong. We are targeting the Kunda Mafia who persistently resort to having this illegal network and some of them have shown resistance to K-Electric?s Anti-Kunda Drives".
