imageKARACHI: For the first time, the business community has been extended all kind of support and facilitation by the government to make them a major player for the economic prosperity and accelerated development in the country including the execution of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) , which will prove a game changer for the entire region, says President FPCCI.

President , Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Mian Muhammad Idrees , talking to APP here, appreciated the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) government's trade and investment friendly policies, and seriousness in pursuing the goal of making Pakistan as Asia's economic tiger within the shortest possible time.

For this purpose, he continued, the private sector has been taken into confidence and placed as a big partner for an economic and social uplift in the country.

Through representative trade bodies especially the FPCCI, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has kept regular his personal interaction with the trade and industrial community of the country besides issuing directives time and again to the concerned government high-ups to ensure a strong coordination, and provide maximum facilities and incentives to the private sector declaring them as the engine of the economy and development, he said. Elaborating this relationship, FPCCI President informed that representatives of FPCCI and other major trade bodies of the country are being invited to share the briefings and presentations given to the Prime Minister before taking any important decision influencing trade and industry or coming with major economic and development projects and initiatives.

The Planning Commission of Pakistan , led by Federal Minister Ehsan Iqbal, also does invite FPCCI leadership and gives presentations on all important initiatves and future plans including the projects linked to China -Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Many meetings had been held so far and would continue.

For making this equation/partnership formal, the Planning Commission had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with FPCCI , he revealed.

" We , on the platform of FPCCI, have been and shall be giving our input to the Planning Commission and other concerned government organisations to make the policies and plans more practical and targeted, and help them in the timely execution and successful operation for the economic prosperity and accelerated development in the country," he added.

Mian Muhammad Idrees , highlighting the importance of China -Pakistan Economic Corridor , said this would greatly help bring an economic and social change in the country and other countries in the region would also benefit a lot.

He expressed his satisfaction over the launch of 'much awaited' CPEC and said this should have been done at least three decades earlier. It is very positive development that the entire nation stands behind CPEC after addressing the reservations shown by certain quarters of the society.

The entire world sees CPEC very positively. However, he regretted, certain countries having impression of loosing their business and were not happy and were creating hurdles in execution of CPEC.

FPCCI President also paid tribute to Chief of the Army Staff General Rahil Sharif for giving an assurance of safeguarding all the projects under CPEC and continuity of their successful operations besides leading Pakistan armed forces fighting terrorism and returning peace and security in the country. " Being President of FPCCI, the apex trade body of the country, I salute our Army Chief for his commitment to the country."

FPCCI Chief advised the business community to prepare and actively participate in execution of the projects making CPEC and then take full benefit of economic activities to be generated within and outside the country.

" On its completion, CPEC would give birth to huge economic activities within and outside our borders up to Central Asian States. The imports and exports would witness a boost. There would be a big transportation business for our community," he said.

He noted that after CPEC, Pakistan would have road and rail access not only to China but other countries in the region and up to the Central Asian States (CARs) which are rich in natural resources like gas, high quality coal and cotton.

President , Federation of Pakistan of Chambers of Commerce and Industry , Mian Muhammad Idrees said CPEC would contribute in cutting the cost of doing business and ensure ease of doing business in Pakistan.
